Asante Kotoko SC head coach Abdul Karim Zito wants fans to be patient despite inconsistency in performance.
At the top four of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier league table, Asante Kotoko SC is missing due to poor run of form. They have recorded just one win in their last five league matches, a result that has seen Kotoko outside the top four.
Zito’s performance has not been impressive and satisfactory recently, hence many calling for his exit. However, Zito is optimistic of turn around and asking fans to be patient.
With the MTN FA Cup more likely to be clinched by the Reds, the Ghanaian trainer believe time can offer him a second MTN FA Cup at the club and possibly challenge for the league title with 14 matches remaining.
“I have never been sacked as a head coach. If a club hires me, I will work, and at the end of the day, I’ll leave my role, but this is my club, and I know how the fans behave.
“I only plead with the fans to be patient, and we will surely win. We are at the 5th role, and it’s not over. With 14 games left, we remain in contention for the league title”, Zito reiterated.
“Sometimes, my kids are disturbed, but I keep telling them this is the nature of our work, and the fans have their right to protest, but they should be patient,” he told Asempa FM.
Currently, Asante Kotoko SC sits behind table leaders Medeama SC (45 points) with 8 points, having accumulated 35 points from 21 league matches.
They will take on arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak SC at home next week in a blockbuster league encounter, hoping to chance on that for a turn around in the topflight.
