The Ghana women’s national team, the Black Queens, will travel to the United Arab Emirates to participate in an international preparatory tournament as part of their build-up to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The tournament, scheduled to take place from February 28 to March 6, 2026, will see Ghana face Russia, Hong Kong, and Tanzania in a series of friendly matches aimed at sharpening the team ahead of the continental showpiece.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has lined up the tournament to give the Black Queens exposure against diverse opposition, offering head coach Kim Lars Björkegren the opportunity to assess his squad, test tactical options, and build team cohesion.
The participation forms part of Ghana’s broader preparations following qualification for the 2026 WAFCON, with the technical team focused on improving competitiveness and readiness ahead of the tournament.
The UAE-based tournament is expected to provide valuable match fitness and international experience as the Black Queens intensify their quest for continental success.
