The Ghana Football Association has rejected suggestions that the recent expansion of the Black Stars technical team represents an unnecessary financial burden, insisting the move is a strategic investment in the national team’s progress.
The FA’s position follows public scrutiny after the appointment of five additional backroom staff to support head coach Otto Addo ahead of upcoming international assignments and preparations toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The additions are intended to strengthen key operational areas including coaching support, performance monitoring, medical services and match analysis.
GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum dismissed criticisms that the new appointments amount to financial excess, stressing that the association remains focused on improving the competitiveness of the senior national team.
“It is unfortunate for anyone to describe this as a waste of money. That has never been the goal of the FA,” he said.
The appointments form part of broader efforts by the football governing body to address technical and performance gaps identified in recent campaigns.
Twum expressed confidence that the benefits of the expanded technical team would become evident with time, urging stakeholders and supporters to remain patient as the changes take effect.
“In time, everyone will testify to the impact these additions will have on our progress,” Twum told Akoma FM.
