Fans of Asante Kotoko have just invaded the training grounds, expelling acting Coach Prince Owusu and advising him to leave Kumasi for his own safety.
The coach, who previously served as deputy to Abdul Karim Zito, was appointed to lead the team for the crucial match against Hearts on Sunday by the IMC following Zito’s resignation. This decision has angered many Kotoko supporters, who view the individual known as “Konkonsahene” as a traitor and unsuitable for the role at Kotoko.
A group of supporters stormed the Adako Jaachie training grounds this evening, obstructing the coach from conducting training with the players and demanding that he depart.
The coach was compelled to flee for his safety, seeking refuge in his vehicle, visibly distressed and confused, as supporters pounded on the car, as reported by www.ghanasportspage. Hamza Obeng took over, conducting training with the players.
The Kotoko IMC Chairman, Nana Apinkrah, had to hastily arrive at the scene, with police also present to help pacify the fans.
More information will be disclosed later …
