Asante Kotoko SC interim coach Yaw Prince Owusu is elated after securing his first victory as the club’s coach following his appointment.
The Ghanaian heavyweight travelled to Wenchi to secure a 2-0 win over Young Apostles FC on Sunday in week 23 fixture of the 2025/26 league season. A goal from Johnson Owusu and an own goal was enough for the Porcupine Warriors to return to winning ways after suffering defeat to arch rivals Hearts of Oak SC at home.
Following the resignation of coach Abdul Karim Zito, Prince Owusu has being in charge of Kotoko last two matches but lost his first game in charge to the Phobias.
Recording an enviable away victory on Sunday marks his first, which he could not hide his excitement revealing it means a lot to him.
“It means a lot to me. This is my first win, and it makes people recognise what I can do. Yes, there was pressure. The players felt it themselves”
“So we spoke to them and asked them to put the pressure behind them and focus on how we wanted to play. They listened, and it worked perfectly for us today. Once we scored the two goals, everything became clear in our performance”, he said.
“So we are okay with it.”
Kotoko’s triumph over Apostles sends them 4th on the league standing with 38 points and will be hosting Vision FC on Sunday March 01, 2026.
