Former Ghana international Lee Addy has called on fans to rally behind the Ghana national football team following the announcement of the squad for upcoming friendlies against Austria national football team and Germany national football team.
Reacting to the selection, Addy stressed that head coach Otto Addo would have based his choices on tactical considerations rather than public opinion.
“I believe the coach selects the players based on the tactics he wants to play. We always talk about who deserves to be there, but maybe such players don’t fit the coach’s game plan,” he said.
The former defender also urged supporters to remain positive, noting that teams often exceed expectations despite initial doubts.
“Sometimes, the team that people doubt turns to pull surprises, so let’s support them because they need it. But I believe anyone the coach names deserves to be there,” he told GhanaSportsPage.com.
Ghana will take on Austria on March 27 before facing Germany three days later as part of preparations for upcoming competitive fixtures.
