Asante Kotoko SC communication member Nii Darko has blast Ghana Football Association vice president Mark Addo, calling for him to step down following Otto Addo’s sack as Ghana coach.
Hours after Ghana had lost 2-1 to Germany in their second friendly game in the March international break, saw the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announce the decision to part ways with the former Ghana international Otto Addo. The Black Stars suffered in the hands of Austria and Germany in this window, conceding 7 goals and registering just 2.
Following Otto’s exit, Nii Darko has called for the resignation of Mark Addo who sits at GFA as Veep for leading a five member committee to appoint a mediocre manager for the four-time Africa champions.
Mark Addo led a team in January 2024 which had, Joseph Mintah, Ace Ankomah (Esq), Opoku Nti and William Caesar Kartey to name Otto Addo as Ghana coach after the departure of Chris Houghton despite not applying for the role.
“If the rules were applied here, the first person to step down would be the vice president of the FA when Otto Addo’s dismissal was announced”
“He was the chairman of the committee that ensured Otto Addo was appointed Ghana coach” Otto had no proven record to manage our national team, he didn’t even apply for the coaching role yet was handed the job”, Darko told Asempa FM.
Otto following his appointment in March, 2024 recorded 5 wins, 5 draws, and 9 defeats and failed to pick a point in his last 5 international friendly matches.
