Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has voiced strong concerns over the recent performances of the Ghana national football team, insisting the team’s display does not reflect Ghana’s football standards.
Reacting to the aftermath of Ghana’s defeat to Germany national football team and the subsequent dismissal of Otto Addo, Bagbin admitted he was taken aback by the decision to part ways with the coach.
“You’re seeing what is happening with the national team; this cannot be Ghana. I was very, very surprised when I heard the coach was axed,” he said.
The Speaker also offered a tactical critique of the team’s attacking play, suggesting that the players failed to maximize their strengths during the game.
“When you have a short striker in front, the first measure is the speed of the striker against the defenders; then you know how to spin the balls for that striker to pick,” he explained.
Bagbin further argued that the issues observed in the match went beyond coaching decisions.
“What happened yesterday against Germany is not coaching,” he added.
His remarks add to the growing national conversation surrounding the Black Stars’ recent struggles and the future direction of the team following the coaching change.
