The final draw for the 2026 U-17 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) has been held with Ghana getting placed in Group D.
The Black Starlets who are aiming to excel at the tournament, will first have to face Senegal, Algeria and South Africa in the group phase before hoping for ticket to next round. Ghana are aiming to return to the World Cup for the first time since 2017, when they reached the quarter-finals in India.
The U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will be held in Morocco from May 13 to June 2, 2026. The tournament will gather 16 teams to compete for the continental title and serve as a qualifier for the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup set to be held in Qatar.
Qualified teams to the tournament, Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda.
All the aforementioned teams will be battling for a World Cup qualification ticket.
The top 10 finishers will qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar automatically.
