The Minister for Sports and Recreation in Ghana, Hon. Kofi Adams says the Black Stars team at the moment is not ready for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup despite two months to the global showpiece.
Ghana after their poor results channeled out during March international break, losing Austria and Germany, fired their head coach Otto Addo. The search team is still scouting around for his replacement, to lead Ghana to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With a replacement yet to be announced, Hon. Kofi Adams has revealed the Black Stars is not ready and will be ready by the time of Ghana facing Panama – Ghana’s first opponent at the World Cup.
“I will say that we are preparing. If I tell you that we are ready…we don’t even have a head coach. So it means that we are not fully ready yet. But I see us being ready by the time it’s time for us to play our first game – against Panama”
“This is a World Cup that I see us doing well in. We should be hopeful”
“We may not have the best of players that we had in some time past, based on them playing together for some time. But we still have what it takes for us to go very, very far. Maybe possibly even win the World Cup,” he said speaking to Channel One TV.
The West African country is paired in Group L and will face Panama, Croatia and England.
