The director of marketing at the Ghana Football Association, Jamil Maraby, has boldly predicted that Black Stars will win the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, expressing unwavering confidence in the team’s ability to end its long-standing title drought.
Speaking to Pulse Ghana, Maraby insisted that Ghana’s return to the top of African football is inevitable, despite the current dominance of other nations on the continent.
“I am very confident and feel Ghana will win the next AFCON,” he stated emphatically.
Maraby acknowledged recent successes by rivals, noting that countries like Ivory Coast and Senegal have enjoyed their moment at the summit. However, he stressed that football success operates in cycles and Ghana’s time will come again.
“Ivory Coast had their chance and took it. Senegal are at the top now, but cycles change and Ghana will rise again,” he added.
The Black Stars, who have not lifted the AFCON trophy since 1982, have faced growing criticism following a string of underwhelming tournament performances. Yet Maraby believes the current rebuilding efforts, coupled with renewed technical direction under Carlos Queiroz, will spark a turnaround.
