Head coach for the Senior national men’s team of Ghana, Carlos Queiroz has left the shores of Ghana to Europe after spending less than a week in the West African country.

The Portuguese trainer was unveiled by the Ghana Football Association last week Thursday, April 23, 2026 after agreeing a short term contract of four months as Black Stars coach. He will lead the four time Africa champions to the 23rd edition of FIFA World Cup slated for this summer.

Carlos after observing the Black Galaxies two days friendly matches and training sessions, departed Ghana on Monday night to Europe.

He’s departure is purposely to visit the leadership of the Black Stars thus Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey and Alexander Djiku and also monitor other Ghanaian players.

The former Manchester United FC assistant coach has less than a month to know his team before the Mundial starts. Ghana has three friendly matches line up as pre-world cup games including Wales and Mexico.

These matches are expected to be used as assessment stage for his team. Ghana have been drawn in Group L of the 2026 tournament, where they will face England, Croatia, and Panama.

The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before taking on England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
