New Black Stars goalkeeper coach Daniel Gasper has heap praise on goalkeepers in the Ghanaian domestic league upon visiting some match centers.
The 73-year trainer visited the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday to observe the Ghana Premier League clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Karela United as part of a wider talent haunt ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and admired the level of goalkeeping in the Ghanaian topflight.
Gasper, who officially joined the Black Stars technical team on April 28, said he was impressed by the quality on display, particularly among the goalkeepers.
He singled out Hearts of Oak goalkeepers, Benjamin Asare, and Solomon Agbasi, who has been included in Carlos Queiroz’s 23-man squad for the upcoming international friendly against Mexico.
“I enjoyed Hearts of Oak vs Karela. A lot of talent on the field. Absolutely, Benjamin Asare is a good goalkeeper. He is part of the national team pool”
“Agbasi has got quality. We have some good goalkeepers in Ghana,” Gasper told 3Sports.
Gasper, who has worked closely with head coach Carlos Queiroz across several international assignments, including four FIFA World Cups, is expected to play a key role in strengthening Ghana’s defensive setup as the team prepares for the global tournament.
