Coach Prosper Nartey Ogum’s side made a strong statement at the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations especially in the first encounter of their clash against Algeria but fell short to share spoils at full time.
The Black Stars faced Algeria in their Group D opener on Thursday evening in Morocco, where they gifted a two goal lead to share stalemate with Algeria, 2-2 following poor concentration in the second department. Two early first half goals, offered Ghana a solid foundation to push their Algerian counterparts to the corner with high level of football, however lost their pattern later in the game, having to concede two goals in the space of three minutes.
Despite, Coach Prosper Nartey Ogum lads taking two goals lead before the first quarter of the game, through Robinho Gavi scored in the 3rd minute and Eric Adu Gyamfi doubling Ghana’s lead in the 11th minute, had to manage for just a draw.
The Black Stars could have lost the game, after conceding a penalty but was well missed by the Algerians.
Ghana would have to reorganise themselves for their two remaining matches in Group D.
They are paired in Group D with reigning champions Senegal, Algeria and South Africa.
