Ghanaian FA Cup holders Nations FC have been drawn against Mali’s FC Diarra in the first preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup.
The pairing was confirmed during the official draw ceremony held in Cairo on Thursday, as the Ghanaian side prepares for its first-ever appearance in continental club competition.
Nations FC will travel to Mali for the first leg, scheduled for 4 and 6 September 2026. The return fixture will be played in Ghana from 11 to 13 September.
The winner of the two-legged tie will advance to face the winner between Nigerien side AS Zam and Togo’s ASKO De Kara in the next round of the competition.
The Kumasi-based club earned their place in the Confederation Cup after winning the 2025/26 Ghana FA Cup, securing a historic qualification for African football.
The upcoming campaign marks Nations FC’s debut on the continental stage, and the club will be hoping to make a strong impression as they represent Ghana against some of Africa’s established teams.
With preparations expected to begin ahead of the September fixtures, Nations FC will aim to navigate the preliminary rounds and secure a place in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
