Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC continued their preparations for the 2026/27 season with an impressive 2-1 victory over Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday.
The Yellow and Mauves produced a strong display at the ASEC Mimosas Training Centre in Abidjan, matching their opponents’ quality before securing victory after 90 minutes.
Jacob Amu Mensah and Prince Owusu scored the goals that earned Ibrahim Tanko’s side their second win in three friendly matches during their training camp in Ivory Coast.
Medeama are currently undertaking a three-week residential camp in Abidjan as they build towards the new campaign.
Their victory over ASEC means the Ghanaian champions have now won two and drawn one of their three matches since arriving in Ivory Coast.
The result provides another positive sign for Tanko as he works to prepare his squad for the demands of the upcoming season.
Medeama are scheduled to play two more friendly matches before bringing their Ivory Coast camp to an end.
After completing their preparations in Ivory Coast, Medeama will return to Ghana to finalise their plans for the new season.
The Tarkwa-based club will have domestic ambitions in the 2026/27 campaign but will also carry Ghana’s hopes in continental competition.
As Ghana Premier League champions, Medeama will represent the country in the CAF Champions League.
