Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President George Afriyie has described Kwasi Nyantakyi as the best GFA President Ghana has ever had, insisting that his achievements remain unmatched.
According to Afriyie, Nyantakyi’s tenure as head of Ghanaian football produced significant achievements that, in his view, cannot be overlooked when assessing the leadership of the GFA.
His comments come amid growing discussions about the poor state and direction of Ghana football under the current administration led by Kurt Okraku.
Speaking during an interview with Edward King Akuffo on Atinka TV, Afriyie expressed his disappointment with what he considers to be the current administration’s performance, while praising Nyantakyi’s record in office.
“Forget Kurt Okraku. Kwasi Nyantakyi is the best GFA President ever. Nyantakyi’s achievements as GFA President is an open secret, and nobody can discount them. Kurt is not performing but hates criticism,” Afriyie stated.
Afriyie believes Nyantakyi’s impact on Ghana football has established a benchmark against which subsequent GFA administrations should be measured.
He argued that while every administration may have its own challenges and achievements, the legacy left by Nyantakyi remains difficult to match.
Nyantakyi served as GFA President from 2005 until 2018, when he resigned from his positions in football administration following the publication of the Number 12 investigative documentary.
