Medeama head coach Ibrahim Tanko has backed his players to give more than 100% in their crucial return leg against TP Mazembe in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
The Yellow and Mauve head into the return encounter needing to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg in Ghana as they fight to keep their continental campaign alive.
The return fixture is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, in Lubumbashi, with victory crucial to securing a place in the second phase of the Champions League campaign.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the former Black Stars assistant coach affirmed that his outfit will give their all in the return clash against the Congolese giants.
“I don’t think we were tired. Definitely, we were playing at home, so we wanted to score and had to put everything into the second half of the match. The goal they scored in Ghana was unfortunate. I don’t think the players were tired, and we are going to give more than 100% here,” he said.
They have the quality; we also have the quality, so let’s see what will happen tomorrow. “We respect what they’ve achieved, but Medeama is also becoming a big club in Africa. We’re determined to progress to the next round and are ready to face every challenge that comes our way.”
Having suffered a narrow defeat in the opening leg, Medeama know they must produce a disciplined and determined performance in the return encounter to overturn the deficit and keep their continental hopes alive.
