The five-member committee who was tasked to search for a permanent coach for the Black Stars of Ghana after the exit of Carlos Queiroz is likely to bring an interim coach ahead of Somail double header in Accra next month.
The GFA and Sports Ministry have been given the committe until Friday, 9 October, to submit its recommendations on the next head coach of the senior national team.
However, according to 3Sports, the committee is expected to recommend an interim coach who will oversee Ghana’s next two matches – the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Somalia in November.
The two matches are scheduled to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the interim coach expected to remain in charge until a substantive head coach is appointed.
The committee’s mandate is also expected to be extended after it submits its initial recommendation on Friday, allowing it to continue its work on the appointment of a permanent coach.
The committee is chaired by former GFA vice-president Fred Pappoe and includes former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah, former Black Stars player Anthony Yeboah, Faisal Chibsah and Agbesi Dzakpasu.
The Black Stars lost 2-0 away to Ivory Coast before surrendering a two-goal lead to suffer a 4-2 defeat by The Gambia in Accra.
