The Ghana Football Association is considering two experienced local coaches to take Black Stars for a Somalia clash. According to 3Sports, Ibrahim Tanko and Godwin Attram are among the candidates being considered for the vacant Black Stars head coach position on an interim basis ahead of Ghana’s November 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is exploring a temporary appointment following the departure of Carlos Queiroz, with Ghana looking to revive a qualifying campaign that has begun with two consecutive defeats.
Ghana lost 2-0 away to Côte d’Ivoire in their opening match before suffering a 4-2 defeat to The Gambia at home, despite taking a two-goal lead.
The results have left the Black Stars without a point from their first two matches, increasing the pressure on the team to turn their fortunes around in the remaining fixtures.

With two matches against Somalia scheduled for November, the GFA is considering an interim coach to oversee the team while a search for a permanent successor to Queiroz continues.
Tanko has previously worked as an assistant coach of the senior national team and led the Black Meteors, Ghana’s under-23 side. Attram, meanwhile, is already part of the technical team of the Black Stars.
Their familiarity with the national team setup could provide options for the GFA as it prepares for the November fixtures, although no final decision has been made on who will take charge.
