Somalia is travelling to Ghana early next month [November] to face the Black Stars in the CAF African Cup of Nations qualifiers, with matchday three and four fixtures at Accra Sports Stadium.
Both legs of Ghana’s 2027 AFCON qualifying double-header against Somalia will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium in Accra, Ghana. Because Somalia does not currently have a CAF-approved stadium at home, they requested and received permission from Ghana’s National Sports Authority (NSA) to host their home leg at the same venue.
In an exclusive interview with China-based Ghanaian Journalist, Sir Martin on Ghanasportspage.com, Andre Joao Castro, the assistant manager of the Somalia football team, acknowledging the talent of Ghana’s squad, which boasts players from across Europe and other top leagues, pointed out that the Black Stars have been struggling recently, a situation Somalia aims to exploit.
“At the moment, Ghana has no potential coach; I heard a lot of things ongoing in the Ghana National team. We are duly prepared to battle with them.” Yes, we respect Ghana, and we’re in a good moment so that Ghanaians will enjoy good football,” He added.
“We go into games with the mindset to beat the opponent to make our country proud, and enjoy the match”. At the moment, the Ghana team is disorganised. We didn’t get a point in our last two games, so the Ghana game is a must-win for us”. He told ghanasportspage.com
“This is our philosophy, and we will be brave on the pitch and try to beat one of Africa’s best on Wednesday 11th November 2026,” he added.
Somalia endured a disappointing start to the qualifiers, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Gambia before losing 0-2 to Côte d’Ivoire at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny. The upcoming fixtures will be crucial for Ghana as they attempt to recover from their early setbacks and return to the continental showpiece.
The Black Stars’ November double-header against Somalia will be crucial to their hopes of qualifying for the 2027 AFCON, with Ghana seeking to recover from their opening defeats and avoid missing consecutive editions of the continental tournament.
