Coach Nuru Yakubu has resigned from Kumasi-based Royals Football Club after spending one year at the helm of the team.
The experienced tactician reportedly tendered his resignation letter last week as he prepares to pursue a new challenge in his coaching career.
Yakubu took charge of the club last season and guided them to a second-place finish in the Ashanti Regional Division League. However, Royals FC finished third in the competition this season.
The coach is widely recognised for his expertise in youth football development and his ability to identify, nurture and develop promising talents.
Before joining Montreal FC, Yakubu worked with Division Two side Madina Republicans, where he continued to build his reputation as a coach with an eye for young players.
Throughout his coaching career, he has played a significant role in the development of several players, including Alexander Agyarkwa of Selangor FC, Dominic Nsobila and Osman Bukari.
He also helped identify and develop Legon Cities’ George from the Colts level before the youngster moved to Montreal FC, a development that attracted interest from the Ghana Premier League side.
Yakubu was also instrumental in helping Accra Lions secure promotion from the First Division to the Ghana Premier League in 2021.
His coaching experience extends beyond Ghana, having managed Maltese side Swieqi United in Europe.
Following his departure from Royals FC, the coach is expected to explore new opportunities as he looks to take the next step in his coaching career.
