Asante Kotoko Sporting Club acknowledges the incident involving our coach, Diogo Peral, during the recent fixture. The Portuguese coach was involved in a heated touchline incident after Adade, the left-back of the defending champions, rushed to retrieve a ball that had gone out of play near Kotoko’s technical area.
The statement reads:
“The Club acknowledges that football is a highly emotional sport, where tensions can sometimes run high, particularly in moments of intense competition. However, we firmly believe that emotions must never compromise the professionalism, discipline, and respect expected of everyone representing this great institution.
Following discussions with the coach, he has acknowledged that he could have handled the situation better and conducted himself more professionally.
The Club wishes to state that such conduct does not reflect the standards and values we uphold at Asante Kotoko. Consequently, the Club has imposed a fine on Coach Diogo Peral as part of its internal disciplinary measures. This decision reinforces the Club’s promise to maintain the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, and accountability.
We remain committed to fair play, discipline, mutual respect, and the highest standards of professionalism, both on and off the pitch. We urge our supporters and stakeholders to continue supporting the team as we remain focused on our season objectives.
Peral has been charged with breaching Article 12(1)(h) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019. The coach has until Wednesday 4th November to respond to the charge.
