The Ghana Premier League (GPL) 2020/2021 season opener between Aduana Stars and Accra Hearts of Oak is unlikely to come on as planned, after 32 persons from the camp of Accra Hearts of Oak are said to have tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease.
Reports gathered by ghanasportspage.com indicate, that 32 persons, comprising of players and technical team members have tested positive for the virus in a latest screening ahead of their season opener against Aduana Stars in Dormaa.
The Phobians are scheduled to travel to Dormaa to kick their the season off in a titanic clash against the Dormaa based side at the Nana Agyemang Badu II park on Saturday, November 14, 2020, but the latest developments, when officially confirmed, casts doubt on the game coming on as planned.
On Saturday, November 7, Accra Hearts of Oak announced that three persons from the club had tested positive for the coronavirus and had been advised to self-isolate for a week.
On Monday afternoon, a close source to the club tells ghanasportspage.com that a total of 32 persons from the club; players and technical team members have tested positive for the covid-19 and that the match stated above is unlikely to go ahead as planned.
Kumasi based radio station Oyerepa FM, also announced via twitter, also reporting of 31 persons having contracted the virus.
