Ghana Premier League (GPL) side Inter Allies FC have parted ways with head coach Tony Lokko with immediate effect, the club has announced.
The Tema based club ended their relationship with coach Lokko on Wednesday after just four matches into the 2020/2021 GPL season. Allies have issued a statement to confirm the departure of coach Lokko, but kept mute on the possible reasons that necessitated the decision.
“We want to state emphatically that, the two parties agreed to end the relationship by mutual consent”, Inter Allies stated in a statement. The club further expressed gratitude to the coach for his services rendered to the club. “We would like to thank Tony Lokko for his contribution and wish him all the best in his next chapter”, the statement added.
In terms of performance on the field of play in the current GPL campaign, Inter Allies have not been much convincing. They have played 4 matches in the league, won 1, drawn 1 and lost 2. Inter Allies lost their match day four fixture away from home to King Faisal at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Tachiman. That was King Faisal’s first win in a league match in six years since June 2014.
Though Inter Allies have been silent as to why they parted ways with coach Lokko, one may not be far from right logically, by attributing the reasons to poor performance in the ongoing football season.
