The day and date for Kotoko to leave the shores of Ghana for the return fixture of the final phase of CAF Champions League preliminary round of matches has been revealed by your trusted football website, Ghanasportspage.com.
According to grapevine source, the Ghanaian giants will leave Ghana to Sudan for the Al Hilal game on Sunday, January 3, 2021 to continue preparations for the match day.
The blockbuster encounter is set to kick off on 6th January, 2021 at Omdurman.
The Porcupine Warriors are after a win against the Sudanese powerhouse Al Hilal to secure qualification for the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
Asante Kotoko in the first round suffered 1-0 defeat at the Accra Sports Stadium and will have to work beyond their limit to produce five-star performance to axe Al Hilal from the competition.
The two-time CAF Champions League winners is without a substantive head coach after their Maxwell Konadu was sacked but the Kotoko fraternity are hopeful that Johnson Smith and Abdulai Gazale have the mettle to turn the one goal deficit to secure qualification.
The last time arguably, Ghana’s most successful club, Kotoko, reached group stage of any of the CAF competitions was achieved by the current Black Stars head coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor in the 2018/19 season.
Players who were on the injury list of Asante Kotoko have almost recovered. The likes Felix Annan, Emmanuel Kayekeh, Osman Ibrahim and Mudasiru Salifu.
