Asante Kotoko ranked 29th best football club in Africa, Ashgold picked while Hearts of Oak misses out in top 100 in latest club rankings

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold SC have been ranked among top best 50 clubs in Africa with Accra Hearts of Oak missing out in the same bracket.

The survey which was conducted by reputable firm FootballDatabase, ranked the Porcupine Warriors 29th among the top best 50 clubs on the continent, with Obuasi based four times domestic league winners Ashantigold SC placing 45th. The survey is purely based on the clubs performances in the CAF Champions League and the Confederations Cup .

Kotoko placed 29th with 1428 points, moving 20 places up, and the Miners placed 45th with a total of 1406 points, moving 17 places up in the annual rankings.

Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold are the only Ghanaian clubs that made it among the top 50 in the rankings with 2004 Confederations Cup champions Hearts of Oak missing out still on the top 100 best clubs in the continental competitions.

Other Ghanaian clubs in the survey include Berekum Chelsea, ranked 73rd, Aduana Stars placing 79th. The 104th position is occupied by Tarkwa based Medeama Sporting Club with 1350 points, followed by Accra Hearts of Oak at the 109th position with 1348 points, having moved 61 places down in the latest rankings. It is worth mentioning that Kpando Hearts of Lions placed 148th with 1326 points, moving 11 places up despite missing out on the continental competitions for years now.
