Ghana Football Association president Mr. Kurt Okraku has confirmed a 4-year sponsorship agreement with Decathlon sports company. As part of the agreement Decathlon will provide One Thousand (1000) Kipsta Balls valued at One Hundred Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc150,000.00) per year for four(4)years which cost about 25,778 dollars each year.
Decathlon is a French sports good retailer with over 2,000 stores in 57 countries including Ghana.
Under the agreement, the GFA will also receive other complementary Sports products valued GHc100,000.00 per year for the four year period totaling GHc400,000.00.
At the launch of the partnership deal at the Decathlon Retail shop(Junction Mall), GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku announced that the balls and sports products will specifically allocated to the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
The French company Decathlon will be serving as the official football sponsors of all the division one clubs, women’s league, and PL until 2024 but the focus key is on women’s league. The deal will begin from the upcoming 2020/2021 football season.
“The GFA will also have the honour of receiving other complementary Sports products valued at GHc100,000.00 per year, totaling GHc400,000.00 for the four(4) year period under this agreement. All to be used by Clubs in the Women Premier League(WPL), the GFA President disclosed.
“This partnership will ensure that the Women’s games are well equipped to enable them excel in their discipline. Therefore, over the 4-year contract period Decathlon Ghana will support the development of Women’s football in Ghana to the tune of GHc600,000.00”.
