Black Queens talented midfielder Jennifer Cudjoe has had her childhood dream realised when she made her debut for the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Sky Blue FC during the club’s league season opener against OL Reign on Wednesday.
The twenty-six year old Ghanaian came off the bench to replace 17 shirted Domi Richardson in the 61st minute to help his side secure a point away from home where they held the hosts OL Reign to a goalless stalemate at the Memorial Stadium.
The match was one of the first matches of the inaugural National Women’s Soccer League, and all the 8 teams are poised for the ultimate – making history with the maiden season.
Cudjoe, who only signed her first professional contract with the Harrison based club in New Jersey, and had her childhood dream of playing in the NWSL come into reality. The Black Queens star’s introduction in the second half brought stability into the Sky Blue midfield as she churned out a scintillating performance with some taylored passes. Despite drawing blank, Cudjoe is extremely delighted with their standard of play but expressed strong anticipation for a first win to put her side in a more competitive position.
“Today we played amazingly well and since preseason this is how we have been playing”, Cudjoe told ghanasportspage.com after the game. “The next game is on Saturday and I’m expecting another good performance and a win too”, she hoped.
