Ghana Football Association (GFA) Presidential hopeful Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer will explore every legal steps available to battle the electoral process and the Vetting Committee against his disqualification to the point of halting the elections, his campaign team have declared.
Six out of the seven aspirants for the GFA Presidency were pronounced qualified by the Vetting Committee of the elections to contest for the 2019 GFA elections, with Wilfred Osei Kweku being the only presidential aspirant who was disqualified on the basis of alleged breaches to some Articles 33 (5) (c) of the GFA regulations which relates to player transfers, and spokesperson for the campaign team, Ebo Appiah has stated that the “elections will not be done without Palmer”.
Speaking to Fox FM on the matter, Ebo Appiah alleged that the idea to disqualify his candidate was predetermined and the reasons do no not hold water. He stressed that team Palmer, who come with the slogan P4P which translates as Palmer for President, will explore all the legal steps at their disposal to ensure Palmer fights back to have his name on the ballot paper for the elections on October 25.
“What happened is something we saw coming, if you look at the Normalization Committee’s (NC) behaviour for the past one month, it (the disqualification) was to be expected”, he claimed.
He added that their team of lawyers are working hard to take the appropriate steps to ensure the NC does the needful.
“He (Osei Palmer) is in good spirit, he’s taking it on in good faith and our lawyers will sit down and take the appropriate legal steps. This elections will not be done without Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer, his name will be on the ballot box (SIC)”, Ebo Appiah declared.
According to him, the P4P is not only considering the option of appealing against the decision but will also intend to take every legal step available to make sure the right thing is done.
“We intend to take the legal steps to make sure that the right thing is done. There are so many legal options available to him so over the weekend the legal team will meet and then we’ll take the appropriate response”, he added.
The Osei Palmer campaign team has since released official statement confirming their decision to appeal against his disqualification but it remains to be seen whether the decision will be overturned or not before the elections are held on the 25th of this month as scheduled.
