Asante Kotoko have opened contract renewal talks with midfielder Richard Senanu.
Senanu has been exceptional for the Porcupines since joining them from Phar Rangers in 2018 before his unfortunate injury in the CAF Confederations Cup which halted his progress at Asante Kotoko.
Dubbed as the next Michael Essien, Senanu was one of the best players in the C.K Akonnor led Kotoko team that reached the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2018, playing a pivotal role in the heart of midfield alongside Kwame Bonsu.
Misfortune was lurking around the corner as he suffered a serious knee injury that required surgery.
He looked set to depart Kotoko when his contract expires after the current season with many clubs showing interest in him. However, the Porcupines are willing to offer the midfielder a second chance and have opened negotiations regarding a fresh contract.
He has recovered from his long injury layoff and his return to action from the sidelines is a positive sign. He is expected to return to the field again when the second round of the Ghana Premier League resumes next month.
