Aide to the Sports Minister Kofi Asare Brako has stressed that the
circulating figures on social media purported to be officially approved
salaries to be paid to the Ghana national teams coaches by the Ghana Football
Association (GFA) and the sports ministry are unofficial and are not coming
from the sector ministry.

On Monday, president of the GFA Kurt Okraku, his vice Mark Addo along with
the general secretary of the GFA, prosper Harrison Addo called on the sports
minister, hon Isaac Asiamah in his office where they submitted a proposal
requesting for coaches of the various national teams to be paid.

Their request fell on fertile land and the sports minister approved it and
the payments will take off immediately the coaches receive their appointment
letters from the FA.

Following the ministries approval, figures stated circulating on social
media believed to be the approved amounts to be paid to the coaches, but these
have been denied by the Special Aide to the sports minister Mr. Asare Brako,
saying the sector will soon make the official figures know to all Ghanaians.

“So long as it’s not from the FA, so long as it’s not from the
ministry, I can say don’t accept it but if something comes out and it’s from
the ministry or the FA then it’s official”, Kofi Asare Brako told FOX FM
in an interview, responding to the circulating figures on social media.

In his submission, Brako, a seasoned sports journalist confirmed, that the
ministry has approved the FA’s proposal and has accepted to pay the national
team coaches, but as to the exact amount to be paid is not out yet and will be
made known in due time.

“For social media somebody can write anything and put it out there, so
for now let me say we have accepted that we will pay them but as to the nature
of the salary, the amount involved wait for a while and will make it known to
all Ghanaians when the time comes”, he said.

The speculative figures circulating on social media supposed to be the
approved salaries of the national team coaches include $35,000 for the Black
Stars head coach CK Akonnor, $10,000 for his assistant David Duncan, $15,000
for the Black Stars B head coach Ibrahim Tanko with $5,000 going to the
assistant.

Other figures include a $5,000 salary for the national U23 male team the
Black Meteors head coach, $3,000 for the assistant, while $2,000 and $1,500
would be paid to the national U-20 male team the Black Satellites head coach
and assistant respectively.

There were other figures for the remaining national teams as well, but the
ministry is however yet to announce the official salaries of the various
national team coaches.
