Tarkwa based premier league side Medeama Sporting Club have announced club Chief Executive Officer (CEO) James Essilfie will step down from his position on September 20 this year after 11 years of service to the club.
During his tenure as CEO, the club won two FA Cup title and made a mark in the CAF Confederations Cup twice, where they ended in the group stages in 2016.
Reasons for his resignation remains unknown but the club has thanked him for his professional conduct and great service during his time. In an interview with the club’s website, Mr. Essilfie confirmed his decision and thanked the club for the opportunity.
“It has been the greatest privilege to serve Medeama Sporting Club for 11 wonderful years,” Essilfie said
“However, I have always been conscious of the fact that, as a member
of staff, I was always just a temporary custodian of this marvelous
institution.
“I worked with an amazing and hardworking staff who will continue to raise the image of this great club high.
“I am extremely grateful to the president, board, management and
supporters for their unflinching support over the years. It has been ups
and down, but I will cherish every memory for the rest of my life.
“It’s an appropriate time for someone to pick up the baton and continue to serve this badge.”
He will remain in his role for a two-week transition period.
