StarTimes have acquired the broadcasting rights to telecast Sunday’s blockbuster clash between Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold SC in the maiden B. K Edusei Memorial Foundation Cup at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.
The Chinese media house will bring to their numerous subscribers of the StarTimes Adepa TV channel 247 and on the channel’s app the great Ashanti derby on Sunday, 1st September, 2019.
The match is aimed at raising funds from the gate proceeds to support retired players of Asante Kotoko, starting with squad that won the 1970 African Cup of Champions Clubs, the first of the club’s two so far.
The match has been scheduled to kick off at 3:00pm at the Baba Yara sports stadium.
Both teams have been preparing vigorously towards the big game as the fight for the bragging right hangs up for grabs. Ashantigold’s four players – Appiah McCarthy, Abdul Latif Anabila, James Akaminko and Shafiu Mumuni – who have been in camp with the Black Stars B in Kumasi preparing for the CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso next month, joined their teammates in Obusasi on Friday to continue preparations for the crucial encounter on Sunday.
The Miners will arrive in Kumasi on Sunday and return after the game.
