Manuel “Junior” Agogo, former Ghana, Nottingham Forest and Zamalek striker has died in London hospital on Thursday aged 40.
The flashy Ghanaian striker born in Accra, Ghana, began his youth career Sheffield Wednesday in London, stretching his professional career playing for fifteen (15) different clubs in the UK, America, Cyprus and Egypt.
Agogo earned 27 caps for the Ghana senior national football team the Black Stars, coring 12 goals.
The former QPR, Britol Rovers, Hibernian striker suffered a stroke in 2015 which affected his speech. The stroke attacked his right arm and at a point struggled to even write.
Agogo has battled for his life for the past four years and finally died in London hospital on Thursday morning.
The late footballer was born on 1st August, 1979 in Accra and grew among ten other siblings. He moved with his family to London as a child and later returned to Ghana to continue his education.Agogo attended secondary school at the St. Augustine’s College in Cape Coast, where he instead, represented the school in dancing competitions.
Starting from Shiffield Wednesday, Agogo played for fifteen different clubs and represented Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008, when Ghana hosted and won bronze.
