The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed two friendly matches for the Black Stars against Mali and Equatorial Guinea in October.
The Black Stars will take on Mali on Friday, October 9, before facing facing Equatorial Guinea three days later. To befit the current situation in the world concerning avoidance of crowding due to the spreading of the coronavirus, both matches have been scheduled to take place with no spectators at the stadium, and under strict adherence to all covid-19 protocols.
“Ghana will take on Mali and Equatorial Guinea in two separate friendly games in Antalya, Turkey.
The Black Stars will play Mali on Friday, October 9, before taking on Equatorial Guinea on Monday, October 12, 2020. Both games will be played behind closed doors and under strict COVID-19 protocols”, the FA announced on Thursday.
The Black Stars are yet to play a match since the appointment of coach CK Akonnor in February this year, and Akonnor will have the opportunity to officially begin his career as the senior national team’s head coach.
The two matches will serve as preparatory matches for Akonnor and his charges ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan in November.
Ghana won the first two matches of the qualifiers against South Africa and São Tomé and Príncipe, topping group F with 6 points in November 2019.
