Football administrator and former Eleven Wonders CEO Takyi Arhin has sympathise with Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah, who have been hugely subjected to public ridicule, unprintable criticisms following Black Stars premature Cup of Nations tournament exit in Egypt.
The Black Stars has come under stern criticism in the country even before the team’s arrival, with sections of the media calling for his immediate resignation, while others a calling for total dissolution of the entire technical bench.
Takyi Arhin insists that Appiah has suffered political interferences in his work, where certain decisions were forced on him and now, he’s being made the victim now that the team has failed.
“Kwasi Appiah is a victim of circumstance, but he wanted it that way because he sat down for politicians to decide for him, it is said if you talk you will die if you don’t you will still die, Kwasi should have spoken”, Arhin told Focal Sports. “That captain’s armband issue I know the origin of it, from the officialdom politics raised its ugly head in our football, if he had spoken for all Ghanaians to hear that certain things were being imposed on him they would have probably come to his defence, but he kept quiet and by now he can no longer talk about it because he sat down for it to be done to him. When politicians are in the scheme of affairs my brother, things get destroyed”, he continued.
Moreover, the astute football administrated believes certain political pronouncements by certain people also got lots of people angry in the country to pray against the success of the Black Stars and now the coach is being singled out.
“The next thing is certain comments make some Ghanaians angry and say if I’m a witch I will pray against the Black Stars; oh this is a presidential project, some people came but failed to win it, as for us we will go to win it now that we have come (to power), so in the spiritual real there were a whole lot of forces fighting against the Black Stars”, Takyi Arhin claimed.
