Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko have announced the signing of Kenya Premier League side Kariobangi Sharks forward George Abege on a deal that will see the Ugandan forward play at the Baba Yara stadium till the season of 2022.
Abege completed his move to the Ghanaian giants on Tuesday following a successful stint with the Nairobi based club. The former Shark featured for the Kenyan side last Sunday in the SportPesa Cup where they beat Premier league side Evert on 4-3 on penalties after a regulation time 1-1 stalemate.
Abege comes with lots of experiences from continental football after helping Kariobangi Sharks to make a meaningful impact in the CAF Confederations Cup last season, where they were held to a goalless draw against Asante Kotoko in Kenya before falling 2-1 to the Porcupine Warriors in Kumasi in the reverse encounter.
The former Sharks leading striker’s International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and other related documents necessary to help the player step unto the Adako Jachie training pitch are already in the hands of Asante Kotoko and the player is expected to join the group for training this week.
George Abege is known for his aerial prowess and fearsome finishing ability makes him a key signing for the Porcupine Warriors, and a partnership between him and Burkinabe import Sogne Yacouba can make Kotoko’s attack a deadly one as they prepare to begin their CAF Champions League campaign by August 9.
