Supporters of Ghana Premeir League giants Accra Hearts of Oak have responded with drastic action, to a social media ranking released by ghanaspportspage.com, which revealed that Asante Kotoko is the most followed club on twitter among the 18 premier league clubs in Ghana.
In the said rankings published on the 6th of May, 2020, which saw all 18 premier league clubs ranked, Asante Kotoko emerged the most followed club on twitter with a total number of 264,400 (264.4k), with Hearts of Oak trailing in second position with 222,600 followers (222.6k). This means the Porcupine Warriors, after overtaking their arch rivals, led them with a whooping difference of 41, 800 (41.8k).
Interestingly, the Phobians have reacted drastically to the news, by trooping to hit the ‘follow’ button of their darling club’s twitter account, with the sole target to bridge the gap and ultimately reclaim their number one position from their bitterest rivals.
Consequently, in just 48hours after the rankings were published by ghanasportspage.com, Accra Hearts of Oak’s official twitter account ( @HeartsOfOakGH ) has seen a significant push, jumping from the previous figure of 222.6k to 223.7k, an increment of 1,100 (1.1k) new followers just within 48hours of the earlier publication.
It is worth noting, that Asante Kotoko, withing the same period of 48hours, have also moved from 264,400 (264.4k) followers to 265,200 (265.2k), an appreciation of just 800 new followers within the same period of time.
The Phobians, whose slogan is “Never Say Die Until The Bones Are Rotten”, seem to have been awaken by the publication and are doing everything possible to reclaim their position. Averagely, with a difference of 41, 800, the Phobians would need at least 100 days to close the gap or overtake the Porcupines. Meanwhile, this is a herculean task on the shoulders of the Phobian fans who want to reclaim the bragging right of who has the numbers between the two great clubs of Ghana football.
