Kumasi Asante Kotoko have officially received offers from Zesco United requesting for the transfer of striker Sogne Yacouba and winger Emmanuel Gyamfi, Nana Kwame Dankwah has confirmed.
Yacouba met with officials of Kototoko recently to inform the club of his desire to leave the Kumasi based club and the club has officially stated its readiness to grant his will subject to receipt of lucrative offer for him. Zesco have also asked for the service of Emmanuel Gyamfi but Kotoko are not in any mood to release the former Wa All Stars speedster any time soon.
Speaking to FOX FM, greater Accra Representative for Kotoko Nana Kwame Dankwah confirmed Kotoko have received the offers and that they’ve responded accordingly.
“It’s true, Zesco (United) have officially written to Asante Kotoko showing interest in Yacouba and Emmanue Gyamfi, the meeting accepted and we’ve responded to Zesco” Nana Kwame told FOX FM.
“We’ve opened the negotiation table, we’ve quoted some figures to them to take a look, they can also bring in their counter one, meaning we’ve opened the door for them to come for us to negotiate for Yacouba, that of Gyamfi too we will discuss it with them if there can be an understanding then we see how to deal with it, so for the two players, yes, we’ve quoted figures to Zesco and have sent letter of response to them today” (Monday), he said.
Despite Zesco’s request, the Porcupine Warriors remain reluctant over the sale of Gyamfi as the speedster remains key to the plans of coach CK Akonnor whose task is to qualify the team back to either the CAF Confederations Cup or Champions league for the next season.
Nana Kwame has admitted that the club is hopeful of convincing Gyamfi to stay on for a while to help the club’s vision to excel in the CAF competitions next season.
“As for that of Yacouba we accepted it straight away, that of Gyamfi too we’ve given them figures for negotiations but for that of Gyamfi we will discuss with them so they will give us some time so he will help the team, we know he is also a person who will understand when we discuss with him but it will depend the arrangements so let them receive our response then we look at the response they (Zesco United) will bring so that we take it from there”, hopeful Nana Kwame explained.
