MOYS, Parliament set up committee for special competition roadmap

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS), represented by the Honourable Sports Minister, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, along with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture, represented by Honourable Alex Agyekum, chairman of the Select Committee, on Monday, met with the Normalization Committee (NC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) and a representative each from the premier and division one clubs in at the sports ministry to discuss and install measures needed for organization of special football competition for the clubs, as Ghana prepares for the resumption of football activities after the famous Tiger Eye PI Number 12 Exposé.
The Committee which is headed by the deputy Sports Minister, Hon. Perry Okudzeto, encompasses 7 experienced individuals representing all needed stakeholders, and have been tasked with a specific assignment to be completed within the next 72 hours.

The 7-member Committee is made of Honourable Perry Okudzeto (deputy Sports Minister), Mr. O.B Amoah, Mr. Cudjoe Fianoo (GHALCA Chairman), Mr. Randy Abbey, Madam Lucy Quist (Vice Chairperson of the NC), Mr. Alex Asante (General Secretary – GFA) and Mr. Kurt Okraku.
The head of the Committee Hon. Perry Okudzeto represents the MOYS, Mr. Finoo represents GHALCA, Mr. Randy Abbey represents the division one clubs, Mr. Kurt Okraku stands in for the premier league clubs with O.B Amoah as representative for the Parliamentary Select Committee on sports and Culture, while Madam Lucy Quist and Mr. Alex Asante represent the NC.

The mandate of the Committee is to merge the budgets of the NC and that of the clubs into one, draw the roadmap for the preparation of the grounds for the organization of the special competition.
They have been further tasked to solve any existing stand-off between the NC and the clubs so as to come to a consensus to make the grounds fertile for the commencement of the special competition.
As part of his efforts to expedite the process for the commencement of football in the country, the Sports Minister tasked the 7-member Committee to complete their findings and submit their recommendations, i.e budgets and programme for the competition to the MOYS within 72 hours, which is latest by Thursday February 28, 2019.

After submission of the programme and budgets for the special competition, dates and fixtures would soon be announced for the competition to kick start.
It is worth noting, that the format for the competition would be made simple so as to finish the competition in time to be able to get worthy candidates to represent Ghana in the CAF Confederations Cup and the Champions League for next season.
