Asante Kotoko call for calm as management assures of plans to meet FIFA deadline

Following the imposition of a hefty fine of $240,000 by FIFA on the club for indulging in illegal transfer of striker Emmanuel Clottey five years ago, Asante Kotoko, by the ruling of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, has until Sunday, May 17, 2020 to settle the aforementioned amount or in default, suffer both local and international transfer bans.

The news has left the numerous fans of the club in a state of wailing as their darling club faces an imminent transfer ban should they fail to settle the fine within the stipulated period given by the world football governing body.

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee took this decision against the Kumasi based premier league giants, for transfering striker to another club while on paper, the player was still on the books of Tunisian giants Esperance Sportive de Tunis.

In his response to the grieving fans, Nana Kwame Dankwa, a management member of the club who also functions as the Greater Accra Circles Chairman for the club, has assured the club will pay the $240,000 fine imposed by FIFA before the said deadline, and that fans have no cause to press the panic button.

Nana assures the fans that there is no cause for alarm, and that Asante Kotoko will surely meet the deadline. According to him, the Executive Chairman of the club, Dr. Kwame Kyei has comfortably assured club officials he will soon make available the money to clear the fine.

“Our supporters should remain calm. Efforts are being made to make
sure Kotoko will sort out issues before the deadline. There is no cause
for alarm. In fact, the Executive Chairman has directed that we should
not panic”

He is just organising himself to get the money and pay to the people”, he is quoted as saying in an interview with Joy FM.
