The CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg tie between Sudan’s Al Hilal Omdurman and Ghana’s Asante Kotoko in Khartoum has delayed due to “missing covid result” of one Asante Kotoko player.
Minutes to the kick of the game, reports emerged from Sudan that seven players and four officials of Asante Kotoko had tested positive for covid-19, making them ineligible to feature for the Ghanaian club. Asante Kotoko have been contesting the validity of the alleged covid-19 results as released, however, the Porcupine Warriors have stated that the results of one of their players has gone missing, and will not play the game until that is made available.
At the time of filing this reports, 36 minutes after the originally scheduled kick off time for the game, Asante Kotoko have confirmed that the game has not started as they keep waiting for the said missing results of their player.
“Game on temporary hold as we await the delivery of “the missing Covid result” of one Asante Kotoko player”, Asante Kotoko wrote on twitter.
Al Hilal lead the tie 1-0 on aggregate now, after beating Asante Kotoko 1-0 in the first leg in Accra on December 23, 2020.
