The organizers of the MTN FA Cup annual competition have announced details for this season’s edition of the coveted trophy as Ghana football returns to normalcy.
The prestigious domestic cup competition suffered a season break due to the Covid -19 pandemic. The competition was truncated in March last year after the round of 64 stage of the 2019/2020 season. The round of 64 was successfully played, and some premier league clubs such as Asante Kotoko, Aduana Stars, Berekum Chelsea failed to make it to the round of 32 after suffering upsets from lower tier club’s. The draw for the round of 32 was held with interesting pairings, but the matches could not be played due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
According to reports, the kick off details for the much awaited domestic cup competition starting from clubs at the third tier levels.
Clubs in the division 2 category have been informed of the proposed kick off dates and told to submit their full list of players and officials by Monday, April 19, 2021.
All qualified teams for the 2021 edition are requested to submit their details to the IT department of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) by the close of Monday, April 19, 2021 to facilitate the fixture details and pairings.
Gathered information have it that the official launch of the tournament is slated for later in April with kick off scheduled for the first week of May.
Only division 2 clubs are set to engage with each other at the regional levels before the division One clubs join the party in the second round of the competition.
