Legon Cities Head Coach Bashir Hayford was conspicuously missing from the dugout when his side took on Aduana Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Joseph Adjei and Jonah Attuquaye’s goals were enough to sink the defending league champions 2-0 to climb out of the relegation zone.
However, with rumours spreading that Bashir Hayford is facing a sack from the club for former Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu to take over, there were questions over the former Ashantigold absence on Sunday.
Wahid Mohammed, who is an assistant coach of the team explained that head coach Bashiru Hayford missed the win against Aduana stars due to sickness.
“Unfortunately, he is not feeling well today and I stand on behalf of the entire team to wish him a speedy recovery. We dedicate this win to him.” Wahid told the press at the post-match press conference.
Despite the victory, the mega-rich club are just six points adrift of relegation with eight matches remaining.
