Ghanaian teen-sensation, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has arrived in Germany on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, to complete his transfer to German Bundesliga outfit, Bayer Leverkusen.
The talented midfielder arrived in the European country with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Division One League side Steadfast FC, Mr. Abdul Diam to seal the move to the German outfit.
The 17-year-old played a major role in the Black Satellites team that played for the Ghana U-20 team at the 2021 Total CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Mauritania.
Helping Ghana to win the tournament, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku also finished as the Most Valuable Player at the end of the tournament.
As a result of his outstanding displays, there were a number of clubs chasing the signature of the Steadfast FC sensation – however, Leverkusen have won the race and a deal could be struck in the coming days.
Issahaku captained Ghana to the Wafu B U17 Cup of Nations in Togo in January this year, before promptly earning a promotion to join the U20 team for the Afcon tournament in Tanzania.
In the U20 Afcon, he scored twice, including a sensational long-range effort from nearly the halfway line, as the Black Satellites beat Uganda to win the Cup.
On his return, he was greeted by yet another promotion as he, together with two other members of the U20 set-up, was called to join Ghana’s camp ahead of a 2021 Afcon qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe.
He, however, failed to make the final squad for the games, instead, being dropped to the Black Stars B side for an international friendly fixture away to Uzbekistan.
On his senior debut, he would make headlines once again as he drove a long-range free-kick into the net to draw Ghana level at 1-1 before the hosts scored another goal to win the match.
Again, he has been handed a debut call-up to the Black Stars by CK Akonnor for next month’s international friendlies against Ivory Coast and Morocco.
