Mamelodi Sundowns defeated SuperSport United to seal the 2020/21 DStv Premiership title at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday night.
The team known as Kabo Yellow began the match with seven points ahead of the second-placed AmaZulu with four games left. Wednesday’s 3-0 win meant Sundowns went 10 points clear with three games left for the team on second spot.
The title-winning victory came via three first half goals from Lebogang Maboe, Kermit Erasmus and Themba Zwane.
With Sundowns winning a fourth league title in a row, the result has confirmed a new South African record. SuperSport United and Sundowns were tied on three league titles in a row before this evening, but the history books now have a new big entry.
Meanwhile, Masandawana have three more formality league games left against Moroka Swallows, Bloemfontein Celtic, and Cape Town City.
