Former Board Member of Hearts of Oak, Ernest Thompson has said that the club lacks quality in the current crop of players.
Samuel Boadu’s side have been in top form this season in the Ghana premier league. They are undefeated in the last six games, winning five, drawing once and conceding just a goal. The Phobians occupy the top position on the league table with 50 points after matchday 28 games.
However, Ernest Thompson believes the club doesn’t have an extraordinary player who could change the situation for the club in a game when the going gets tough.
“When you are doing the recruitment you need to also bear in mind that you need one or two players especially within the midfield or the striking aspect of the game who can make a change,” he told Kumasi based Oyerepa FM.
“Years back we had Joe Fameye who you know that when the going gets tough he can do something. It’s like Asamoah Gyan when he was in form, when Ghana played England, he didn’t have a good game but the coach kept him the last minute from nowhere he put a ball in the net and it was one all”
“I am not seeing any ,one or two extraordinary players, all the players seem to be on the same level.”
“The team is far away from being what it is.” Mr Ernest Thompson added.
Meanwhile, the Phobians will face Tarkwa-based Medeama SC on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium in matchday 29 of the Ghana Premier League.
