Andrews Appau’s late goal gave Asante Kotoko a 3-2 win over Inter Allies in a frantic encounter at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.
Appau rose above his markers to head home from Fabio Gama’s free-kick in the 71st-minute from close range to give the Reds the maximum points.
There were three goals in a dramatic first half. Emmanuel Gyamfi shot the Porcupines into the lead in the 27th-minute through Evans Adomako’s assist before Alex Aso benefited from poor defending from Kotoko to level for the home side.
Evans Adomako, who was a provider for Kotoko’s opener scored on the 41st-minute to restore the Porcupines’ lead before the break.
After recess, Inter Allies found themselves level through Andy Okpe who headed home from a corner to beat goalkeeper Razak Abalora with Kotoko visibly neglecting their defensive duties.
Inter Allies crumbled again late on to allow Kotoko the winner to record their second successive wins after last week’s 1-0 win over Ashantigold to end their three games winless run.
Fabio Gama danced past Hashmin Musah with ease and won a foul. Gama stepped up and delivered an inch-perfect cross into the danger zone to find Andrews Appau who rose above everyone to head home for his first career goal for Kotoko in two starts to win the day for the Reds in the 71st-minute.
Asante Kotoko are now on 53 points with only goals difference separating them from Hearts of Oak.
