Former Ghanaian international, Charles Taylor has warned Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi not to consider switching nationality from England to Ghana.
The 20-year-old has been a long-term target of the Ghana Football Association to consider a nationality switch despite capping three times for England at the senior level.
Odoi has gone through the ranks of England’s playing for the U16, U17, U18, U19, U21 and senior teams. However, per FIFA regulations Hudson-Odoi has not appeared more than three matches and thus can choose to play for Ghana.
Talks have been held between the Sports Minister, Mustapha Yusif and the Ghana Football Association boss, Kurt Okraku after being ordered by the president of the nation, Nana Akufo Addo.
But Taylor has advised the enterprising winger not to think of nationality switch to salvage his career.
“If Odoi is listening to me, I will advise him not to think of playing for the Black Stars. He should continue playing for England even if it is under 100, he should play for them than to play for the Black Stars. Ghana is ending career” he said on Angel TV.
Born to Ghanaian parents, Odoi’s father Bismark Odoi featured for Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak in the early nineties.
